ECD Energy and Environment

ECD specializes in the energy and sustainability assessment of buildings in terms of energy efficiency and environmental impact and indoor health. Activities include development of building assessments and audits, research and development, design advice, advice on specifications and post occupancy monitoring. The primary focus of ECD has been the development of Green Globes assessment suite, which include modules for Design of New Buildings (Canada, GBI US), Existing Buildings (BOMA Canada/ GBI US), University Campus Assessment (APPA North America), Tenant Fit-ups, Building Emergency Management and Building Intelligence Quotient (CABA) . These assessment modules have now been adopted and are promoted by various organizations such as Green Building Initiative (GBI-USA), APPA and Continental Automated Building Association (CABA). BOMA Canada has adopted Green Globes as the basis for its national environmental excellence program called BOMA BESt. The programs’ core premise is that environmental leadership and responsibility make business sense.
